Christmas at the Botanics, Edinburgh

I love the Botanic Gardens here in Edinburgh, which luckily for me are pretty much on our doorstep so it's very easy to pop in whenever the mood takes me. At the moment though there is the added bonus of their after hours Christmas lights display which I went to see recently with visiting family.

The display of lights follows a festive mile long trail around the gardens complete with music, Santa, festive food and drink and, of course, the lights in amongst the trees and plants. Obviously the display is all out in the open and goes on unless the weather conditions are really bad (i.e. snow) so come prepared. The night we went we encountered a few sleety showers and it was bitterly cold but with mulled wine, hot chocolate and the like to tempt you on route a little cold really doesn't matter. Come wrapped up, bring some cash for the food stalls and get ready for an evening of festive light fun.

Christmas at the Botanics is a ticketed event with set entry times across each evening, pop on to their website for details of how to book yours. Don't wait too long though as if you haven't yet been the light show finishes on the 30 December 2017.
